10代の頃に祖父と母が亡くなり遺産を相続した際、ワイン造りの道に進むことを決意。オーストラリア、ボルドー、ブルゴーニュでの修業を経てロワールのシャトー・スーシェリーの醸造責任者に就任すると、アンジューのテロワールに惚れ込み2009年にわずか1.7haの畑から自身の初ヴィンテージをリリース。展示会への出品もなしに、ソムリエ達の間で評判が広がり、アンジューでありながら瞬く間に熱い注目を集めフランス各地の星付きレストランから求められるようになった。

今や彼のワインは現地のレストランで95%が買われてしまうため、残りの5%しか国外に出回らない希少品。アンジューの常識を覆す味わいで2018年度にはフランスのトップ10生産者に選出され、ロワールという枠を飛び越えてスター生産者へと仲間入りを果たした。

「アンジュー・ブラン」は、サン・ランベール・デュ・ラテと近隣のフェイ＝ダンジューのブドウを使用。完熟したリンゴにレモンやライム、白い花などのフローラルなアロマ。リッチで力強い口当たりだが、しっかりとしたミネラルのおかげで極めてフレッシュなフィニッシュが楽しめる。柑橘果実とミネラルが反芻する洗練された余韻が素晴らしい。

The 2022 Anjou Blanc from Thibaud Boudignon reveals a perfumed, exotic bouquet with aromas of green mango, pineapple, pear and spices intertwined with a touch of toast. More depth and fleshier than the 2021, it’s medium-bodied perfectly balanced with a seamless, layered texture and a delicately bitter finish. 30,000 bottles produced.

Thibaud Boudignon approaches each vintage with spectacular precision and dedication. Achieving good ripeness despite some difficult vintages in recent years and producing excellent wines, he offers wines of purity, tension and finesse with virtually no rivals in Savennieres. Their depth and density reveal the fantastic terroirs of Clos de Fremine and Clos de la Hutte, located in La Possoniere, a historic part of the appellation that has unfortunately seen some urban encroachment. Boudignon patiently waits for full grape maturity before harvesting and practices gentle, slow pressing during vinification. He ages all his wine in barrels or foudres from notable cooperages, such as Chassin, Gauthier Freres, Taransaud, Atelier Centre France and Rousseau. He performs meticulous work in the vineyard, planting only massal selections of Chenin Blanc and advocating for permanent cover cropping. His attention to detail in the winemaking process, precise viticulture, dedication and passion for the terroirs mark him as one of France’s foremost vignerons and winemakers today.
