1744年から続くダイス家は、フランス・アルザス地方ベルクハイム村に位置しています。1945年に故マルセル・ダイス氏がワイナリーを設立。現在は3代目であるジャン・ミシェル・ダイス氏が継承。創業当時約12haだった所有面積は、現在、9つの村に220区画、合計26haの斜面畑を所有するほどに拡大しています。

「何かを良くしようと思ったら、それは愛によってのみ可能だ」。現代アルザスワインの頂点を極めるジャン・ミッシェル・ダイス。アルザスに初めて「テロワール」の概念を持ち込んで大論争を巻き起こし、遂にはAOC法の改正(ラベルに品種名を表記しなくてもよくなったこと等々)を成し遂げた、信念の男。現在も彼が昔から提唱する、畑の個性に基づく「プルミエクリュ」を実現させるべく運動を続けています。

「マンブール グラン・クリュ」は、1.5haの真南向き斜面畑。標高270m。平均樹齢15年。ピノ・グリ、ピノ・ノワール、ピノ・ムニエ、ピノ・ブラン、ピノ・ブーロの混植。第三紀の石灰岩と泥灰土基盤で、表土の石灰・マグネシウム層に陽光がたっぷりと降り注ぎます。この畑は北風が強いため貴腐菌がつかないことも特徴です。テロワールから見たぶどうの特長は、タンニンがとても力強く、かつまろやかという点で、ヘクタールあたり15〜20ヘクトリットルという超低収量と相まって、口に含んだときの巨大なスケール感の源となっています。心深く感動させられる作品です。

■テクニカル情報■
栽培：ビオディナミ（1997年ECOCERT認証、2007年demeter認証）。クローン樹を極力使用しない。
醸造：平均収量は33hl/hl（全アルザスの平均は78.80hl/ha）。白は除梗せず、赤は約80%除梗する。天然酵母のみで発酵。赤は木製開放槽、白は大樽で発酵。シュール・リー熟成。

Very complex nose of melted butter, sealing wax, toasted baguette and caramelized pear. Rich and silky on the full-bodied palate where there’s a lot more citrus fruit and freshness than in the nose. Then comes a wave of salty minerality that adds another layer of tension to the extraordinary finish. A field blend of traditional varieties, focused on the pinot family of grapes. The 2020 Grand Cru Mambourg offers a beautifully clear and pure but also intensely aromatic nose of kumquat and bitter orange aromas. On the palate, this is a saline, powerful, tight and concentrated as well as juicy Mambourg Pinot Gris with remarkable finesse and a certain texture and generosity that I do not get today from the 2019 and 2018. At this stage, I really like it, and it is my favorite of the 2018-2020 trio today, even though Mathieu Deiss disagrees and opts for the 2019. 14.3% alcohol. Natural cork. The 2020 Mambourg Grand Cru comes from oolitic limestone. Fully south-facing, this is a very warm site. Made from a field blend of all the Pinot varieties (Gris, Blanc, Noir, Auxerrois), this opens with melted butter and hazelnut, suggesting opulence. The palate, however, tapers into limestone coolness with utter clarity and precision. Concentrated lemon notions make the mouth water, but it is the stony saltiness that gets you. Intense and long.
