京都、錦の青物問屋の主であり、独学で
琳派、諸家を学び独自の画風を極める。
その作品は個性的で、特に鶏の図の作品が
多い。本品は古くから所蔵している版木
から、現代の摺匠が摺り上げました。　

Jakuchu Ito Woodcut, 1716-1800
Jakuchu Ito had studied Kano painting
in Kyoto where he was born as the son
of a rich merchant. He became famous
as a painter and printmaker of exotic
birds and of Buddhist subjects.
The artists's realistic painting style
became a source of inspiration for
late 19th and early 20th century
kacho-e prints and paintings.
